How to precertify
In order to receive insurance coverage for almost any type of medical treatment, you must precertify beforehand. This is to ensure that your policy covers the intended procedure and that it is medically necessary.
You can contact Cigna's Customer Care Team on +44 (0) 1475 788182 or from the US on 800 835 7677 directly with any questions you have. You can also email cghoclaims@cigna.com to notify them of the treatment and obtain precertification. (This is also best-practice as it creates a paper-trail in case of confusion down the road.)
Cigna will usually establish a direct-pay agreement with the hospital of your choice to cover any costs above your deductible and/or coinsurance.
